Of the 20 people arrest in the shutdown of Hobet Mine, 9 people have been released! A plea deal was reached where some folks were able to walk out jail this afternoon. The obstruction charge has been dropped, but the trespass charge was pled as guilty. Stipulations agreed to in addition were 12 months of unsupervised probation with the condition to not enter mine property, a $500 fine, and court costs around $160.
Katuah Earth First! executed a banner drop in solidarity of Radical Action for Mountain People’s Survival (R.A.M.P.S.). Twenty folks were arrested, with four of them being with KEF!. Two of those folks, Eva Westheimer and Bryan Garcia, have been released today with two more folks still in jail. The action might be over in the coal fields, but we still need to raise money for the fines. With a grand total of $2,000 in fines, and over $600 in court costs, we won’t do it without you!
